Miami-Dade County Approved Louvers vs. Regular Louvers
The term "Miami-Dade louvers" generally refers to specific types of louvers that meet the requirements set by the Miami-Dade County building codes, which are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, particularly hurricanes.
These louvers engineered to offer maximum protection and durability in high-wind environments, such as those found in coastal areas like Miami.
United Enertech is known for quality, experience, and reliability, and we have years of expertise in the design and manufacturing of products for areas prone to hurricanes and severe weather.
What’s the difference?
Miami-Dade Louvers
- Wind Resistance: United Enertech’s Miami-Dade louvers have design wind load of 100 PSF to 150 PSF, depending on the model.
- Impact Resistance: They are designed to withstand wind borne debris, which is a major concern in storm-prone regions. These louvers are tested for impact from large projectiles at high speeds.
- Certification: Miami-Dade County Acceptance will be noted on louvers that have been tested and meet the product approval for Miami-Dade County. This includes testing for wind, water resistance, and impact.
Regular louvers are typically designed for standard weather conditions and are used for ventilation purposes in a variety of applications.

Regular Louvers
- Wind Resistance: While they can be designed to handle moderate wind, they aren't specifically engineered for extreme weather like hurricanes. Many of United Enertech’s louvers, including fixed and adjustable louvers offer a design wind load of 30 PSF.
- Impact Resistance: Regular louvers may not have the same level of impact resistance, as they are not built to withstand debris in high-speed winds.
- Certification: Many of our fixed and adjustable louvers offer AMCA certifications, including those for air performance and water penetration. Our wind-driven rain louvers include AMCA certifications for wind-driven rain and pressure drop.
