President & Executive Chairman
Ken Trent joined the company in December 2016 and is the President and Executive Chairman.
Mr. Trent was formerly an owner and executive at Professional Power Products, Inc. (PPPi), a vertically-integrated manufacturer of enclosed gas and diesel power generation systems. At PPPi, Mr. Trent directed sales, engineering and manufacturing activities. He joined PPPi in 2001 and played an integral role in increasing revenue from $3 million to approximately $40 million at the time of the company’s sale to Power Solutions International (Nasdaq: PSIX) in 2014. From 2015-2017, Ken served as an advisor and also on the Board of Directors for portfolio companies of AEA, a private equity company based in London and New York City.
Prior to joining PPPi, Mr. Trent held M&A, corporate finance and corporate development positions with Lehman Brothers in New York, NY and Overture (Yahoo) in Pasadena, CA. Mr. Trent earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Director of Operations
Matt Dunkin joined United Enertech in September 2018. He is responsible for administrative activities for all production, manufacturing engineering, scheduling, continuous improvement, and maintenance operations. Prior to United Enertech, Mr. Dunkin has a 16 year track record of success in medium to high variation product environments within the HVAC, Heavy Industrial, Furniture, Coatings, Motorcycle, Automotive, and Hydraulic Component Industries.
Mr. Dunkin has worked is way up in manufacturing from roles as quality manager to manufacturing engineer to production supervisor to corporate continuous improvement manager to plant manager, including temporary stints as maintenance manager and design engineer. While working for a competitor in the dampers & louvers marketplace acted as corporate level continuous improvement manager over 11 plants with multiple company merit awards from large productivity improvement events and steadfast leadership of the cost savings program. Other major stops included a dual role production supervisor/industrial engineer at Cargotec/Kalmar Trucks, project engineer at Valspar Powder Coatings, and process engineer at Sauer-Danfoss Hydraulics with significant productivity improvements achieved at each.
Mr. Dunkin’s education was towards mechanical engineering at the University of Kansas and University of Missouri – Kansas City. Matt has certifications as Lean Practitioner/Facilitator/Trainer, APICS Basics of Supply Chain Management, Kepner-Tregoe Problem Solving Methodology, Six Sigma Yellow Belt (Black Belt trained), TapRoot & 8D Root Cause Analysis, and OSHA & MSHA Requirements.
Chief Financial Officer
Jeff Needles was named Chief Financial Officer of United Enertech in January 2017. He is responsible for all financial and administration activities of the company, including financial reporting, treasury, tax, legal, audit, IT, banking and insurance. Prior to being named CFO, Mr. Needles was Chief Financial Officer of Schnellecke Logistics USA, LLC.
From 2009 to 2013, Mr. Needles was Director Financial Planning & Analysis at MasterCraft Boat Company (NASDAQ: MCFT). Prior to that, he was Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis for the Furniture Brands International. His professional career began at Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s (NYSE: HOG) Vehicle and Powertrain Operations in Kansas City, Missouri and Harley’s corporate headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Mr. Needles earned his degree in finance at Saint Louis University (SLU) and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Washington University’s Olin School of Business. Jeff is a CPA certified in the State of Missouri.
